Frequently Asked Questions:
When is it too late for dental braces?
Never! Not so long ago, children were the main recipients of braces. Today braces are more affordable than ever and it is not uncommon to see the mother and child getting braces at the same time. At Aubin Orthodontics we see adults wearing braces in greater and greater numbers. And there’s never been a better time to make this choice. Braces are smaller, lighter, easier to clean and wear comfortably. Dr. Aubin uses a whole new world of orthodontic materials that work better and faster. We use the latest plastics materials, bonding adhesives, wires and brackets. There are some braces that seem “invisible” called clear braces.
Why do adults wear braces?
Braces offer a good choice for improving your smile and oral health. Some adults have crooked teeth and bad bites because their parents did not consider braces when they were young. Crooked teeth, teeth that overlap are more difficult to clean. As a result, bacteria that is responsible for bad breath, gum disease, and tooth decay are more prevalent. Protruding teeth or gaps between teeth detract from your smile and create an uneven bite. Bad bites are often responsible for headaches that some adults experiences. At Aubin Orthodontics we have braces that can straighten and properly position the teeth and jaws. Adults can now enjoy health smiles. Taking care of your teeth sends the message that you are taking care of yourself and reflects self-respect and confidence.
What are my choices for adult braces?
At Aubin Orthodontics, we have braces that provide greater comfort and style than when you were growing up. Todays braces work more quickly than the traditional style braces, which means a shorter treatment time and fewer trips to our office. At Aubin Orthodontics we offer many options from ceramic to plastic braces that are bonded to the teeth and are used in conjunction with thin, gentle space age wires.
